... it changes very frequently. That can be a bad thing when you've built yourself up for sun and it suddenly forecasts rain.

That's the point though isn't it. We want a reasonably accurate forecast not something that changes every hour until it's accurate but far too late for any planning purpose.

We're camping in Salisbury this weekend. Late last night I looked at Metcheck and it basically forecast rain all day today. We had some heavy rain this morning but it cleared around 10:30 and we had glorious sunshine for the rest of the day with just one shower around 7pm.

We had been planning to walk into town from the site but based on the forecast less than 12 hours previously decided to drive instead. Had we just trusted instinct we'd have done better.

I don't pretend to understand the science but my point is that I would have expected the accuracy to have improved over the years but it hasn't. And as far as I'm concerned Metcheck's (and I suspect other site's) advanced forecasts are totally pointless.

We off to Skegness for the week today and just looked at 4 different sites and got 4 different forecasts. Then again what hope have you got when BBC weather site says rain all day and the national news says not a chance of rain all day.

Glad i am not in Someset tho looking at the report the BBC are doing from there this morning lol.

Well it was the national that got it right. None of the online ones. Hardly a spot of rain yesterday. Wet and cool this morning but dry now. Hope it brightens for the rest of the week.

I sometimes use
www.theweatheroutlook.com cause they do a 14 day and 45 day forecast - just so I can torture myself!!

I am also a weather addict and on the whole find them rubbish!!

The OH despairs
