Thinking of  buying one of these, but am wondering if I could put it up/down on my own, ( possibly with an 8 yr old's help!). All advice appreciated.

I can put up and take down the 2004 model Destiny on my own.  You just have to be organised so that things like roof bars are to hand.  Of coarse it is quicker with an extra pair of hands.

I find our Designer quite easy to put up on my own.  Putting it down I find trickier as the roof material needs to be kept clear.  I get a helper for that bit.

I am encouraged by the fact that it is obviously possible.  I am 5ft 2,  will this make much difference?

I'm 5ft 3. I could put my old Dandy up on my own and it didnt have gas struts. As others have said, it is quicker and easier with 2, but def possible single handed.

Hi, look here go to the "files" section.  There you'll find an article outlining what the models look like called "which Dandy" that I wrote after I did some researching when I bought ours.  You'll also find an article I wrote on how to fit gas struts.  They are a big help & make assembly a one person job.

Hi    im desperate for someone help me. I was given a Dandy last year and had a lovely holiday in it with the 2 kids.  The rain was terrible and the awning just perished so i threw it away, it just could not be repaired.  I am going to use the Dandy next week  and was wondering could  use a gazebo as i cannot get a Dandy one and the alternitives are 2 expensive for me the colour of the Dandy is orange brown and white.

Look for a motor van awning on ebay. the drive away ones seem to fix easily to a Dandy.

I use a Dandy and can put it up on my own.  Gas strutts are invaluable.  Also polising the inside roof on a regular basis helps so it slips easily over the hoops.  The one situation that does present a challange is windy conditions particulary if the wind is changing direction. However my experiance is that if you are on your own that people will help if you are stuck. Often campsite owners will offer.
