How do you transport everything when you go camping?

Do you
A) have a large car and fit it all in the actual car (tricky for us with 2 children in the back too....)

B) have a roof top box - in which case is it easy to lift stuff in/out and pack it?

C) put it all in a small trailer and tow it?

With the camping stuff AND bikes - I am a bit mystified how we will get it there (short of hiring a transit - or maybe that isnt such a silly idea)

You might regret asking that !!

At the moment an old King Khios Plus - but looking to replace it - NO IDEA WHAT WITH THOUGH - current "leaders" are the Outwell Montana 6, the Khyam Petworth or Khyam Longleat.
Guessing they will all be about the size of the current tent (ie a suitcase size).

Cars - either a Golf (if I go on my own with children - so have front seat) or Range Rover (if I go with husband - a reluctant camper - so want to be set up to go in the golf)

IDEALLY would like one solution for both cars - but think a rooftop box would be impossible on the range rover ....

Hi Sally , last trip we did with 2 kids we managed to get it all in the car...packed soft stuff like pillows, sleeping bags etc in the back with the kids....one year on and with child 3 in tow we had to borrow a trailer!!!

Have now bought a f/c to solve our problem and are selling the tent.Have you tried having a "practise pack" as you can often fit more in the boot than you think!

we have a combo van and until recently used a tent, with all the creature comforts OH wanted it was full to the roof, I was looking at either a roof box or trailer, but she decided we needed  trailer tent which has cut down on the load. Unless you but 2nd hand roof boxes are expensive, but not as expensive as the trailer route, unless you have a towbar already fitted to you car. Towbar fitted today cost £189
