Hi all

Well we finally got the whole thing up.  Took the boys camping to Granny and Grandpas garden over the weekend and got the whole rig including the additional awning pitched.

For those of you with the extension awning - how do you pitch it so that there's a porch style entrance and additional area out front.  There's a piece of canvas which we assume is the divider part but there doesn't seem to be any way to close up the tent fully if we put one of the doors on the main awning.

Probably not making too much sense but the problem we have is, we can use the additional awning fine just connected to the main awning but saw in Camperlands that it could also be configures into a L shape (what they referred to as a porch) which would suit us much better

Any help?

Hi there,

We have the vendome not the chantilly but I think they are basically the same

Put up the trailer as in your photo including the window panels.

Then zip on the extension using the extra ridgepoles as well.

Next unzip one of the window panels ( the one you want at the far front of the tent) and reattatch it to the space inthe extension.

Then you should have a pole with string going through it  this is used to hang from the middle ridge pole from front of extension to front of main awning.

The piece of fabric you have spare then hangs from this pole and is zipped on both sides using the zips that would normally be used for the window panels

Hope this is clearer than mud for you

Sillycow

Thanks for that.  That's actually what we did but when we hung the piece of fabric from the pole there was a rather large gap between the top of it and the roof of the tent - ok in warm weather but would let out a lot of heat in cold weather.  Also when we did this the elastic bands for pegging were lying on the grass so there would be no tension and when we tried to zip this panel to the window panels there was a gap as the window panals are arched and this panel is sipped straight

Any other ideas?

Hi

It sounds as though you did it right but to make the gap at the top smaller try shortening the string a little, we just tied a knot in it, and yes there will be a gap at the top of the zips as well. We use this extra inside space as a dining area so still have the main awning as living space
