Hello,

Have just joined.  Have been looking at getting a trailer tent and want something easy to put up (have small children so need something fast errecting) and these two campers seem to fit the bill.  Have joined Combi Camp forum and there is a lot of help and guidance there.  Was wondering about Creighton Binns as there doesn't seem to be a lot on the web about them so thought I would check on here.  Looking at a Comfort model on sale locally and hope to view over the weekend but wanted to know the dimensions of these folded up.  Have a garage but wouldn't have room in garage to store one I don't think so not sure if it is avisable to store one on drive esp. over winter months.  Would appreciate any help offered.  Sorry if this question has been asked countless times before.

Julie

Hi Julie and welcome to UKCampsite.

Afraid I don't know much about Creighton Binns except that they were British Made and supposed to be good solid campers. I've never even seen one in the flesh. As far as I know they haven't been made for many years.

Combi Camps are still made and imported to Britain, so spares availability is much better. They are seen much more often.

Hi,

I've got a crighton binns comfort camper- i bought it blind off ebay and fortunatley it turnedout to be a fair good one for its age.

few minor scuffs and a couple of repairs but not bad.

it is very very easy to maouvre, erect and take down, i do it easily by myself. It's not the most luxiourious of campers- but compared to my tent that i used for years - it feels like luxury!! for the £400 it set me back, i think it was worth the money and have used it about 6-8 times so far this year.

its plenty spacious enough- i haven't had the awning up yet though. spares,.... hmmm, don't know, i took it to local Barrons and they wouldn't touch it for servicing- said they probably wouldn't be able to get bits, so i gess it may be on borrowed time, but taking it a weekend at a time at the mo and just enjoying it

don't know anything about the other type, sorry.

Hope you get yourself sorted with one soon

Can honestly say that the combi camps are the easiest of trailer tents to put up out of all the TT's I have ever seen.  There is plenty of storage space inside so kit does not get wet it it is raining when you arrive on site.  As long as you have a good road cover it is fine to store outside in winter.  The main thing is to support the cover so water does not make it sag between the bars of the luggage rack IYKWIM?  Go on the combicamp forum for advice on which model to get.

Hi

we've owned both makes of tent

we had a crighton binns comfort camper for years

and had other crighton binns models

if you need any info about them drop us a line and we'll be glad to help out

we now have a combi-Camp (a very old one) and it's great

if you have a lot of kids and a good sized car to tow with it's one of the best folding campers to have

it's light not too wide and the Comfort model will sleep 6 with ease

the Combi is great if you have a small car, we'll be towing ours with a Citroen Dyane (602 cc engine)

it only takes 1 minute to put up the tent, great for over night stops

and the awning takes about 15 minutes to add to the main tent

a very neat and simple trailer tent

Creighton Binns have not been made for decades.  If you get one, make sure you see it go up & ensure all the bits work as you'll need to look very hard for spares.

Steve.
