Leave the awning at home  and more seriously just put the main unit up have a brew then do the awning. It's not a race.

Hi Martindoggy

Fraid there's no hiding at Scarborough LOL  It's very open and very vulnerable to the wind off the sea LOL  It was while we were staying at Scarborough that we decided to ditch the tent as we had force 10 gales there two years ago and ended up taking the tent down at 5.00 am in the morning!!!  So be prepared for an audience LOL  If you are not on a flat(ish) hard standing you may need chocks as parts of Scarborough are sloping!

Seriously the best bit of advice we had for putting up the awning was from JanP who said to hook on the 3 poles that attach to the mainframe first and leave them hanging then zip on the awning to the mainframe.  Then put the rest of the poles together, including the further two poles that are intersections from mainframe to front of awning and peg down.  Before you attempt to put up the awning zip out the two front sections and the two side sections as it makes it a lot lighter.  It is really a lot quicker to put up the awning that way.  You may need to stand on the step to zip through the highest section at the front and it is easier to pull the zip through to the inside and pull along with a long string on the zip - put one on if there isn't one on.  One thing that may stump you - that did us the first time we put the awning up are the two pieces that go at the front of the awning.  One on the left and one on the right - they go inside each other and extend - so don't worry if you are left with these parts until you realise which ones go INSIDE each other rather than just go into the end.  You then adjust them so that the awning is taught.

Make sure you go to the Magpie restaurant at Whitby to sample their fish and chips. Easily the best we have tasted but we are looking for others.

Regarding the awning. If you are not familiar with it save it until you have had a sleep and dont concern yourself with onlookers. They are envious or fancy your wife.

With plenty of time and patience you will sort it. Note you can lower the roof on the main unit by pressing the buttons and allowing the poles to retract. This enables you to easily hook in the awning poles and pass over the canvas and zip on.
DO NOT USE FORCE ON ANY OF THE ZIPS or it will cost you.

We always removed the walls and doors when packing and erecting. Less weight and wind resistance.

Martin,

We made our first trip this past weekend with our recently bought pullman 1997 model. We had no paperwork with ours everybody helps out on this site. I have a set of instructions that i can email to you if you req, these after all the effort of aquiring, printing them, sticking them in a folder and then, left them at home!! To be honest, i wouldn't worry to much. After scratching our heads for a while we managed to sort it in about 1/2 hr. We started by placing the 2 corner sections and the middle peak on the floor, then the 2 legs that have the black feet on for each corner. There are then 5 poles which are extendable, 3 with hooks both ends and 2 with hook 1 end and pin the other. The 3 poles with the hooks connect at both ends and centre section and the other 2 on the inner poles. We hooked the 3 poles into the 2 ends and centre of the camper, attached the corner sections to the legs and then the extendable poles with the pins in each end between the corner sections and the middle peak section. You can then hook the 2 ends and centre poles into the front section of the frame, there are 3 short poles with hooks that connect to the the 2 corner sections and middle section. These goes through the holes in each corner and centre and hook into the peak of the canvas into the eyelets. Then we dropped the front legs to the lowest position, pulled the canvas over the poles and zipped it in. Extend the front poles to the standing position and connect up the 2 inner poles with the pins going into the front frame. Zip in the under bed skirts. Now zip in the the panels, extend the poles to tension the canvas and peg down.

I thought that was going to be so easy putting it into words but how wrong was i! The best way to understand this gobbledegook is to sink a few of those already cold beers, read again and all will become clear!!

Good luck and happy camping.

Paul

Dont worry about putting the awning up, if my son,14, and I (me being a 5.3ft female), can do it, anyone can.  My FC is  a 1991 Pullman and I found that lowering the centre cabin strut really helped.
