Having mooched around these boards for over a year I decided time had come to join the ranks and I yesterday bought a 2000 vintage Pullman 535 SE for a cool 3K (price seemed about right after looking around). The camper itself is strangely immaculate with no signs of use from the hob and grill, cardboard tags still on the unused awning and a 100% fade-free canvas and body decals. That said I've found a couple of problems I'd like to ask for help on please.
First up, the slide-out bracket that the bed support sits on is missing its two sprung locking pins. I'm guessing bolts or something similar will do but can I get the proper pins and if so any idea where? Didn't see them listed in the Pennine accessories section.
Also it's missing the velcro straps that holds the bed support to the bracket. Worth replacing or should I go with cable ties?
Thanks in advance, and looking forward to a more active role in the future ;)
I've got a similar problem with mine. I have the sprung clips but they keep getting caught, then fall out or don't spring at all. Now i've decide to do away with these sprung clips, drill through the bar and use galvanised bolts with sprung washers and wing nuts. My view is it may take a few seconds longer to put up, but i then know it won't collapse and then my daughter may be able to sleep the night without the worry of hitting the deck!!
As for the strap, i can't see it lifting unless its really windy but like yourself, new to this game, only had ours for about 6-8 weeks. Any better ideas would be interesting. Will keep my eye out for more replys.
As I understand it if the bed drops it will also wreck the fibreglass by the hinge so it'd be a double-whammy. After scouring the 'net I figured one of these might work for the bed:

Had a look but it states that it is only suitable for solid sections rather than hollow. They look hefty though and much more solid than a couple of pins. I may invest in a couple, looks easier than bolts!
After looking at both options i would go for 2nd option, clevis pins. These are stainless, no rusting. Should be a simple case of drilling through the the current holes to the correct diameter and off you go.
you could a couple of small adjustable / velcro luggage straps to hold the bed support bar down, these would be easier to fasten and remove, try somewhere like towsure or a good hardware store.
One of our dogs has chewed the strap which holds the rear bed down. I've replaced it with an old buckle watch strap. No expense and seems to work OK. A year or two ago someone reported on here that a Pennine front bed had lifted in a gale and done a fair bit of damage to the wardrobe/interior fittings, apart from the possibility of damage to the canvas. So I use something to substitute for the missing strap.
As for the press studs - seems a simple enough mechanism to replace with bolts, as already suggested above.
