hi all

can any one recommend a t/t which could reasonably be erected by one person. we always used to camp but since my wifes illness this would be impractical in an ordinary tent. we also have two small boys (3 & 6) so needs to be at least a 2 birth with the ability to add a bedroom extension.

It depends on the person!  I'll be going to the gym a few more times before I try it without oh, and my children are big now.  With practice and a few muscles, yes it can be done ok, and it goes up really quickly.  The thing we didn't bargain for is the height of the roof support pole; if I'm on my own I'll need a step! 

I think Combi Camps might be easier though, although I've never tried one.

cabanon venus or raclet solena. Both small and light and you can get zip in sleeping bits. They are small and light, but the awning is separate.

You often see the cabanons secondhand, but the raclets are a bit rarer.

We had to buy steps  I'm 5ft OH is only 5ft 4in

I'm not sure how heavy the top would be on a model without the gas struts. OH could problaby manage ours on his own, though I don't know what would happen if he was left without supervision.

Unpacked & packed up five timed already this year and he still hasn't sorted out what order everything is done

We have a Raclet Solena love it fab unit and I can put it up on my own ..... it is a great little unit but you can have extra sleeping pods and the awning is fab....

Combi camps and Camp-let also look good so whatever you decide hope you find something right for you and at the right price....

Go to be a Combi Camp. Much more versatile and more space for you and your family than a Solena, from my experience the Camplet does really need two unless you are a big strong chap. Ditto most folding campers e.g. Dandy. I tried Conway Countryman and Cardinal and couldn't do either on my own,

As Cat says, go and look at as many different types as possible before committing yourself, have a go at erecting them on your own, maybe buy an old cheap version first to see how it goes before spending a lot of dosh.
