Hello,
1. No, you will need to pay to camp on a recognised site.
2.This site has details of some great camp sites HERE. THIS is the UK Camping and Caravan Club web site. I have given the link to this in Italian. They have a national network of very good sites.
3. The cost of fuel in the UK has risen sharply recently, and continues to rise. Diesel (gasolio) is around £1.32 per Litre. Petrol (benzina) around £1.20. HERE is a useful site to find local prices.
4. Mobile phone coverage is good in most areas, but in the Scottish Highlands it can be patchy due to the mountains.
5.English and Scottish pounds are accepted on both sides of the border.
Hope you enjoy your stay!
Steve.
