We purchased our Sunncamp 400SE less than 2 years ago and have only used it for 1 whole season.  So you can imagine my horror when I realised that we needed to change the tyres already.  I had read threads on this forum that said tyres should last about 5 years and I kept trying to convince myself that they looked OK ish.  But in the end I gave into gut instinct and arranged at a fairly local tyre place to get some new tyres in for us and we poodled over there this morning to have them done.

The mechanic described them at "SHOT" and when he removed them he told us that they were re-moulds and were car tyres!!  I would have thought that at 2K, sunncamp could at least have given us decent tyres.

So be careful any sunncamp owners out there...... If you've still got the original tyres, check them carefully.

thats why we got very good ones from Towsure cheaper than some one putting new tryes on.

We shopped around first and found that Towsure is the cheapest.

We bought out tt new.  The point that I was making was that I had expected better quality tyres on a £2,000 brand new trailer tent.  Has anyone else seen this with Sunncamp?

I would have shopped round for the tyres but the local tyre dealer wasn't too expensive and they fitted them too.  Neither of us are very handy when it comes to these things and I wanted to make sure that the job was done properly. We are also running a bit short of time before our trip to France.

Hopefully it will be a few years before we have to pay out again.

Hi we have a 7 year old sunncamp 400se i have just had to put new tyres on, but my mate at the tyre place said they had worn out as they had been run all most flat at sometime (not me) if it was up to me i would give sunncamp a call and ask them what sort of tyres thay fit ,maybe the place you got it from swoped them for second hand car tyres as even remoulds should last 10,000 miles or more and if they are car tyres even more.

                             hope that helps a bit

                                   cheers Bruce

Remoulded/retread tyres will have the marking 'BS AU 144e' on the side somewhere, and also the word 'retread' or 'remould'.

Note that a retread has simply had new rubber added to the tread area; a remould will have had new rubber put on the sidewalls as well.

Both should be perfectly safe if remanufactured properly.
