Hello everyone, I just thought I'd tell you about our upcoming mini tour of Europe with my OH Ally and girls Jess (7) and Molly (4) and our trusty Pullman. We've never been abroad with her before and after about 10 days planning, and with alot of advice from you lot we plan to set off from North Shields to Amsterdam this Monday, from there its down to Trier (Germany) for 3 nights, then Lake Maggiore (Italy) 3 nights, Lido di Jesolo 14 nights, lake Boddonesee (Austria) 3 nights then last stop at Limburg (Germany) for 3 nights before heading back to the ferry. We are lookind to add stops/excursions to France, Luxemburg, Liechtenstein and Switzerland....are we mad??? We have some of the sites organised but not all, so we're expecting quite an adventure, which is how we like things! Think we've got everything but if anyone has any advice or suggestions about takinf their fc abroard that you think may help us they would be greatly appreciated..........and of course we'll notifiy you how we've got on.

Bon Voyage!  You'll love Germany.  Are you thinking of going anywhere near Pied Piper Territory aka Hamelin? I know of a very welcoming site just outside.

I think calor gas is not available on the continent but camping gaz is - plus you would be wise to pack a patch lead for your mains hookup so that you can easily correct wrongly wired campsite mains (apparently this really does happen!). And make sure your tv works on european network if you are taking one (i think UK is pal and europe is not but most camping tvs work everywhere), else pack loads of dvds!!

How do the charges compare for the different countries you have booked? Are they similar to the U.K.? Whats a patch lead?

Some site wire the ehu with the live and neutral wires the wrong way round. electricity still works, but when you turn stuff off it remains live with a potential of electric shock (never much fun lol). Modern campers have a light in the fuse box market 'polarity reversed' or similar. If this is lit, your patch lead gose between the camper and the eho bollard and swaps the live and neutral over so they are connected the right way round. Saves re-wiring the ehu cable, and makes your camper safe

Just returned from central Germany , 29 celcius . 1 days rain the whole 3 weeks. You will love the hassle free Germany especially their excellent road system and across the board cleanliness.

If you have time drive the " Hunsruck Strasse" Eastwards on the high ground from Trier, towards the Rhein at Koblenz, you'll love it.
