Well we had our maiden voyage this weekend over to Bakewell, luckily not far as we had some problems.

When we collected the tt we were told not to drill into the trailer to attach the number plate, but to use sticky pads.  I bought exterior grade pads, and the number plate had been on a couple of weeks in the garden, but didn't make it to Bakewell!  So what do I do?  More sticky pads, bathroom sealant, or do I get my drill out?

Secondly our brake lights stopped working.  They were fine when we left but when we got home they weren't working.  The other lights are ok.  I'm going to ask around scouts tonight to see if theres anyone with a towbar who could check the trailer for us, other than that I don't even know how to work out if its the trailer or the towbar.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm going to post these two questions on towing as well.

Other than that the tent was great, we camped with 3 other families and we were ousted by all the kids!  It was very wet and windy most of the time, and we were really snug.  I did attach all the guylines, it probably wasn't necessary, but tents were being flattened around us!

All the best,
Alison

We had the same problem with the number plate. I discovered that the surface where the plate sticks is slightly concave and so I had to build up the double sided tape into a concave shape and it's been fine ever since. And use about five sticking points. Sorry can't help with the the stop lights.

Bernie.

Alternatively you could use a length along the top of the number plate and another along the bottom. The tape should be about 2mm thick.

Thanks Bernie,

I'll go to B&Q and see what I can find.  I'm just a bit concerned we'll lose it on route again!

Yes that's the problem. We had to tie ours on after it dropped off (fortunately we saw it happen so didn't lose it) on one trip before I realized it was only sticking on in four small spots because of the concave shape. That's why I think lengthways top and bottom may be the right solution. The tape is made of a sponge-like material and is about 2mm thick by 1cm wide.

Bernie.
