definitely reccomend travelling thro night.
kids will find it a big adventure, have done it regular when ours were small.
leave about 11pm and take a leisurely drive, stop off once or twice to stretch your legs etc.
we left here 10pm in july, going to st austell with van, just the oh and myself, went the old road,m25-m3-a303-a30,stopped at a little picnic area just before exeter on a30,toilets and plenty of room,arr.2am left at 7am,arrived site 9-30am.
good breakfast and on pitch and set up by 12.
take a quilt or blanket each for the kids and enjoy your trip.less stress and worry.
atb.
i thought i was indecisive, but now i am in two minds.

------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.

We live in North Herts and went to cornwall this year and stayed over near Bath for a couple of days on the way down and then came home via Weymouth. That really suited us and the kids. When the DVD was on the kids were so quiet. You knew when the DVd was off because they started to get restless lol. We go up to Scotland every other year and usually travel up overnight. We take it in turns to drive while the other sleeps. We usually aim to leave about 4am but always leave about 12pm cos we are too excited to sleep and just want to get going lol. With stops it took us about 8 hours to get there.
We left Cornwall on the Saturday and the A30 was quite busy both ways. When we left Weymouth there were huge tailbacks for ages into that area. If we went back to Weymouth, even though its only a 4 hour drive towing a caravan, i would definetely plan to leave home about 4am even if it means arriving in the area early. We don't have to go straight to the caravan site but can have breakfast and go for a walk.
It is the very busy season now so i'd travel early even if it means wasting time once you arrive.
HTH
