Hi all

I'm not sure if I qualify to be on this forum but we have just bought a pop top caravan (1992 Fleurette 34TS)

Its the first time out of canvas for us and we love it but unfortunately it did not come with an awning. I was hoping that I could find a used one on ebay etc but I'm not sure what to look for.

Because its a pop up it would mean that the awning rail is lower than normal so I think I have to get one that is make for a pop top caravan?

What about an awning for a pop-up caravan? When a pop-up caravan is up is the awning rail at normal caravan height or is it lower like the pop ups?

Does anyone know any makes etc of these that I could look for?

Does anyone know how to check my caravan to check if an awning will fit?

Any ideas would be much appreciated

thanks everyone

Hi,

Just had a quick search on the internet for you and found this company  http://www.campersandleisure.co.uk  they seem to sell a few 2nd hand Fleurette campers. I'd start by calling them.

Thanks, they do sell a porch awning but it looks quite small.

Another thought I had was can I use an awning like a freestanding awning used by camper vans? These are probably about the right height but how does the awning connect to the van? Do the camper vans have awning rails like caravans?

For example this one:

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/membershop/bd_nomad.asp

It says "Fully adjustable height - upto 210cm. " and my fleurette is 195cm so the height looks ok?

thanks all

Think I answered this on your other thread. Any of the stand alone awnings designed for campervans should fit your van.

I had this problem when looking for a lightweight awning for my Freedom pop top, but the rail on that was on the roof so too high for a campervan one and not high enough for a caravan one.

The campervans have gutters and a plasic strip is used to connect the beading on the awning to the gutter. It should thread directly in to the awning rail on your caravan.

I also answered your question on another thread.

As Campers & Leisure stock these older pop up vans perhaps it might be worth phoning them http://www.campersandleisure.co.uk to see if they have any awnings for sale. They seem to handle quite a lot of these vans & we have always found them to be very helpful when we bought our Fleurette from them.

Our awning which came with our Fleurette is made by Campion.

Brilliant thanks everyone! I think I'll look into stand alone awnings then

Thanks Angela I tried campersandleisure and they were good, if anyone else is interested they do a porch awning for popups but it looked just a little bit small for us, (probably perfect though if you are looking for a porch awning). They can also order you a new full size awning but that will cost around £1000! Which was too big for us

thanks again

Hi Brett

We have a Trigano Silver, a later version of your pop-up. We got the porch awning from Campers & Leisure, and it is quite a good piece of kit.- see gallery. It is a freestanding type awning, but still slides into the awning rail.  Floor area is 8' x 7'. If you want one bigger you need to look carefully at your van. A bigger porch awning  for ours would obstruct the side window. Apparently C&L do get the standard awning altered but I am not sure how.

Did see a full sized awning on a Fleurette in France last year. They look quite good, but as you have said they are expensive.
