We packed our fc away on a blazing hot day in May after having aired everything thoroughly. Just before we put it in storage, I opened the door and popped one of those moisture traps inside.

When we got it out of storage (a bone dry barn) and I checked the moisture trap, it was full to the brim!

Where on earth did all that come from then????

Hi, It would come from the air, I have to use two moisture traps in the conservatory at winter time even when the heating is on.

I cannot see the point in using a moisture trap in something such as a folding camper as air can circulate more freely than say inside a caravan and as such have never used one.suppose its down to personal choice.

Moisture traps are pointless their is always moisture in the air and they just suck any out even normal levels that won't effect your folder

Unless the unit is airtight to start with I don't see the point. I put a bag of silica gel in the fridge icebox but that is all.

No camper or caravan is airtight. If it is drier inside than out then moist air will be drawn in, so using a moisture trap thingy only encourages more moist air to come inside.

we have an electric mini dehumidifier which we use but i agree most comes from the outside anyway ,the electric one though has a fan which at least circulates the air a bit.
just a hot day and a cold night makes moisture inside a plastic cover ,we put a foam sheet between the cover and canvas with another plastic sheet underneath it so its more difficult to get drips but you will never stop condensation whatever you do.
the electric dehumidifier is great (it works similar to a thermo electric fridge) we have it permanently wired up on an extension lead ,when its damp we turn it on and it drains to the outside ,mind you when its a cold night in the autumn it ices up so best left on a timer so it turns itself off in the daytime to thaw out
