Hi, we've just bought our first trailer tent and before we go on our first outing we want to make sure we have everything we could possibly need and more if I had my own way!

We got the canvas out today and there are two things we could do with some help on:

The window to the left hand side of the door has come away from stitching leaving a hold of about 2 - 3 inches.  The previous owner had patched this with Duck tape and me being me I didnt like this as it didnt match and peeled it off!  Could anyone give any advice on how to repair as I wanted to try and do it so it was least obvious?

Also, as we havent put it up yet we are about to purchase a ground sheet to go in the awning I've chosen a green eco one (because it coordinates! ), but have no idea what size we might need, again any advice would be really appreciated.

The laugh will come when we go somewhere overnight and try to assemble it!!!!

With regards to the repair - for your first trip at least, stick with the duct tape.   This is a very handy item in your tool kits, and is great for making emergency repairs to tents etc, as well as anything else.   But unless you are handy with the old needle and thread, the restitching may require your tent to be sent away for specialist repair, and this could take some time.

If you post what type of tent you have - make and model, then somebody else will probably be able to help with the size of the ground sheet required.
Or go away for a couple of nights, taking a large tape measure with you.

Hi we have a trailer tent and we have an eco friendly one,(groundsheet that is!) but i put the large plastic one underneath so if your eco one doesnt fit you have overhang from the plastic one plus it makes it warmer, also if it rains you will end up with wet feet  plus mud and grass everywhere.. i know it defeats the object of being eco! but i like dry feet more! just a tip!... shelley

HI REGARDING YOURE REPAIR YOU CAN BUY A PRODUCT CALLED TENACIOUS TAPE WHICH IS A VERY STRONG WATERPROOF AND DURABLE TAPE COSTS ABOUT £5 POUNDS FOR 5 LARGE SQUARES WHICH PEEL OFF AND STICK YOU CAN CUT TO SIZE AND ITS CLEAR SO MATCHES UP WITH ANY COLOUR.YOU SAY YOURE FROM STAFORDSHIRE MIDWEST CAMPING ON WERGS ROAD IN WOLVERHAMPTON STOCK THE TAPE AND SELL IT IN ALL DIFFERENT SIZES A GOOGLE SEARCH WILL GIVE YOU THE WEBSITE ADDRESS.REGARDING YOURE ECO SHEET I PERSONALLY DIDNT LIKE THEM BECAUSE THE DAMP AND WATER JUST SEEPED THROUGH BUT ALSO YOU CANT JUST SWEEP THEM CLEAN WHEN ON HOLIDAY,BUT IF YOU USE ONE I WOULD CERTAINLY PUT A SHEET OF PLASTIC UNDERNEATH WHICH WILL MAKE IT WARMER ASWELL.

HAPPY CAMPING

Hi,

Camperlands in Manchester recommended a product called stormsure to me to mend a large rip in my Camplet. It is shiny and rubbery when it dries but definately does the job. They recommended this to me as a better alternative to the tenacious tape which they did also stock.

Good luck!
