Hi all,

We've just upgraded from a tent to a Trigano folding camper with a leisure battery in the box at the front, and the capacity for EHU.

Our car has 2 connector sockets (one is white & one is black) by the tow bar. The black one has 3 pins in a line & obviously connects to the cable already attached to the 'A' shape at the front of the folding camper & operates the brake lights etc on the trailer.

The white socket has two pins and I have been told that power can be fed from the car to the trailer plug sockets whilst driving using this. This would obviously mean that we can leave our fridge on in there and our leisure battery trickle charger on whilst driving. However I'm not sure what we need to connect to it and where . Do I just buy a lead with a 2 hole female plug on one end & connect this to the car & a standard 3 hole female plug on the other & connect this to the normal power inlet socket on the trailer & this will power the inside of the folding camper as we are driving?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as we go to France on Saturday. Thank you.

Anita

Hi think you're not looking at the sockets incorrectly they both have more pins than you say (7 on each I think) but you are right about what plugs in where, black socket for trailer tail lights and the grey for power to fridge/battery.
Sounds like you need a lead made up from grey socket to the trailer where there should be a lead or connector.

Have a
LOOK HERE to see if you can see what you need.

Without seeing what you've got hard to advise.

Good luck with it macaw

No, the normal (should be blue) power inlet to the camper is for EHU - 230 volt mains - only.

You will need to fit a lead from the 12v circuit of the camper with a plug to fit the grey 12s socket of the towcar. I'm surprised that the Trigano doesn't have one already attached.

I would respectfully suggest that you get a qualified vehicle/caravan electrician to do the work for you.

Thanks for those replies. I have just got on my hands and knees and looked underneath it and there only appears to be a wire from the leisure battery and the normal blue mains supply socket. Perhaps the car's equipped but the folding camper isn't! Oh well if that's the case we'll just have to use the trickle charger when on site. Cheers.
