Looking for information on Folding Caravans...does anybody know any decent websites with information, photos etc.

Currently have a Folding Camper and thinking of changing to a caravan but worried about towing and storage...has anybody ever changed over to a Folding Caravan from a Folding Camper.

Many Thanks

Gobur are about the only current manufacturer of truly folding caravans, as opposed to "pop tops" like the Eriba. Gobur sell 2nd hand ones as well. Their 2nd hand ones are usually immaculate, but are also expensive.

Search also for Rapido and Esterel. But they have not been in production for several years.

We recently changed our Dandy Destiny for a Gobur. Took us almost 2 years to find a recent 2nd hand one. (Don't know where they all go!) We have the 10 foot, 2 berth standard width, and are very pleased indeed.

If you have any detailed questions on the Gobur, please ask.

Yes we changed from a Conway Crusader to a Trigano Silver this year. The Trigano is a pop-up, but is actually a little bit lighter than the Crusader was. It is far more stable to tow, I'm beginning to think this is due to the flexing of the tyres on the Crusader. It is about the same width and just a little longer. The Trigano will store in a garage if needed. Anything else you need to know?

Storage - no different

Towing -no different

go for it!

Campers & Leisure have a good stock of folding caravans. We bought our pop-up caravan from them & they were very helpful. http://www.campersandleisure.co.uk

Hi somera,

we did just that, we changed from a Raclet TT to an Esterel folding caravan That is in excellent condition!! it is so much easier to set up and takes 2 hours less!!!, ours lives in the garage so no storage fee to pay, we turned up on site last week in the rain ( no change there!!!)  it was up and running in no time, we were sat with a cup of coffee, the same time with the TT we would have still been putting the awning up and pegging down!! so as one that has gone over to the darkside?? go for it!!

Somera,
Don't know if this is any use to you, but just received a Gobur mailing promoting a "Preview Weekend" launching their 2009 models at Woodlands Touring Park, Norfolk, 3 - 5 October 2008.

Assuming that it is County Kildare, Eire you live, it is a long way for you to come. (Do-able on Ryanair into Stansted if you can get a cheap enough fare) But I can't imagine a better opportunity to get acquainted with folding caravans, new or second hand.

We recently bought a very old Gobur carousel. It is a 10/3 and is adequate for 2 people though the bed is a bit on the narrow side. It is rainproof and can be erected in about 10 minutes although my record is 5. I can strongly recommend.Try preloved website for a second hand one.
