Right, we have now purchased a Conway Cruiser 2000 model last week unexpectedly - really excited about using her.  In fact looking at going away at the end of October which we would never have done in the tent!

However, is there anything we need to know regarding caring for our new camper that perhaps we haven't thought about?

Thank you, Paula

Not sure on things like caring for her, apart from common sense, like drying her out ir you have to bring her home wet - same as you would with a tent.

Have you considered the step up/down from the main part to the awning?   Our FC came with a set of double caravan steps - which we found very good, but took up a lot of space.   We are changing to one of those handy step stool thingies, which we used in the trailer tent.   Does the same job but takes up less space.

We have loads of storage space in our camper, and when we first got her, I put her up and packed stuff in - but it is going to take up a couple more trips before we decide where is the best place for some of the stuff.     So take your time, and 'live; in your new toy, before deciding that this must go there, and that there.

We have some mats for ours in bad weather so the carpets stay clean.

Ours hasn't got carpets - just lino, but a door mat came with it, and when we were away in August, I insisted that the kids wiped their feet.

Ours comes with a built in mat to wipe your feet but we still put something down when it is muddy because you cant take the mat out to shake it.

We take delivery of her at the end of this month and are counting the days!  We have a little fold up stool that we will use to climb up into the cabin and are treating ourselves to the luxury of proper duvets etc!

We are lucky that we have been given a winter storage cover that we will use over the winter months and we will ensure that she's dry before packing away but do we need to remove anything if we're not going to be using her for a period of time? Can we just put the winter cover straight over the green (waterproof) cover that it comes with?  We are so looking forward to not having to spend 2+ hours setting up and the fact that the beds are proper beds with sprung mattresses and the cooker is built in etc etc.  There is even a fridge with an ice box - I can now have ice in my cider!  Hopefully this means that our season will not end as we plan to visit family in December and use her on a local site.

Thanks for your replies.

Congrats!

If you like having ice then maybe buy in some of those plastic ice cubes, we got ours at Tesco and they're not expensive. At least if you forget about them they wont thaw out and leak all over your fridge. You can get them in easier than using bags and the box isn't big enough for a plastic tray so they're probably your best bet.

Hope you enjoy your first trip!
