it would have to be a very large twin axle caravan to give you the same amount of room as a folding camper ,like the pathfinder or crusader
Before we got our caravan we were considering buying a Pennine fc but thought they were far too expensive for what they are, especially when it would cost nearly another £1000 extra for an awning. We paid less than that for our caravan - private sale - and even though it's only a single axle 2-berth we have as much room in that as in a folding camper.

Avoid a caravan like you would avoid the plague.

We had 3 and all were a disaster from new. Stability was the main problem but they also lacked space and were a bind to tow and service.

Latterly we had a Pennine Pullman fc which was great in every way. It had all the kit of a caravan and less weight but more space.

Regarding the poster who says their single axle cara has the same space as an fc. You are deluding yourself. A Pullman fc has the same space as a single axle in the main unit and the same again in the bedrooms, hence twice the space.

Its horses for courses - the view's the same whatever type of unit you're seeing it from.

Its amazing that many thousands of people tow their caravans quite happily with no stability problems whatsoever.  Most people don't find them a bind to tow and folding campers should be serviced to the same standard as caravans.

The pullman has an overall erected length of 535cm.  If you take an xplore 452 2 berth it has an internal length of 454cm.  Hardly half the size and it will have far more storage space than a folding camper.

The folding camper has some of the kit of the caravan but little of the cosiness and luxury.

Actually its not that's the only thing I prefered in the caravan. The windows aren't as clear in the camper and because of the bedrooms if you use a caravan pitch and have the awning up all you see is next doors car.

I am lucky and have a Pennine Pathfinder and a caravan. I wouldn't trade my Pennine for the world-I would my caravan! The thing that infuriates me is even with a fixed bed caravan- they are so uncomfortable! The Pennine have deep sprung matresses and real size too! For some reason I cannot sleep when it rains in the caravan (I have had plenty of sleepless nights recently!) the noise is so loud. In the Pennine it  is not as noisey -but yes it rains! The only thing is drying the Pathfinder out after use but it only takes a few minutes to put up and down. In my opinion a very small minus to all the plus points that it has. I too love unzipping the sides and sitting in the open space-not that we have been able to do much recently! Pennines are made perfectly for Europe. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for!
