After much searching we have decided to go for a Camplet concorde
( i hope just got to persuade other half that's its worth having a tent more expensive than my car!) But as our tent has been sat in the garden drying out for last week hes being converted as at least TT will dry out on drive!

Only one thing i've noticed many other TT have a skirt around where the camplet doesn't, does this make the cabin area colder or warmer.

And as we've never had a trailer before, should I go for twin or single electrics when i get a towbar, i normally use main electrics on sites, but if i get a porta potti, may want 12v for all own facility sites..

any help appreciated for novice TT

Hi Susan,

We have found the Camplet quite cosy, Outer skirt makes no difference, we have other t.tents and actually find this one very cosy at night with only one lot of internal zips to fasten.

We only have a single electrics tow bar (thats what we have always had) We spend a lot of time on non electric sites, (Fields!) We don't bother with twelve volt. we have a three-way fridge and use a gas lantern. If you don't care for gas lanterns there are plenty of good battery lights around now. The Camplet has a water pump operated by seperate six volt batteries. We also have a small gas heater.

To save lugging it all around we have two boxes in the garage, one for electric and one for gas according to where we are going. If we want the radio we plug it into the car electrics. We have never bothered getting into leaisure batteries mainly because of having to cart them around and keeping them charged up. Caravaners seem to love them but then they seem to cart generators around to charge them up!

I'm sure you will enjoy your Camplet.

Hi Susan

You'll love the lettie.

We have two electric points on the towbar as we put our fridge on while traveling. But once pitched there not used as we then use EHU off the site.

Have fun

Hi

Also have a Lettie - there is no draft the back skirt is great, we don't use the 12vlt       I don't use the water pump, don't see the point in pumping cold water? I use a 2 ltr squash bottle,  my OH actually made a bit to fit across the bowl section, which gives me/him  more worktop. Plus the kids wouldn't enjoy the job if they washed up in the trailer.. best place to meet other kids, at washing up area...LOL

The beds are fab, I couldn't go back to the floor, the rest of it is GREAT!! We also have  a gas or electric bag, saves lots of time getting ready.

You won't regret it,  I just wish we had started camping years earlier than we did.

Good luck..

I've never seen the sense in those cold water pumps either. We used to have one in our Dandy but I never felt it was hygienic enough to use for drinking, and I agree that washing up is easiest done in the big sinks with gallons of hot water on tap.
