Does anyone remember these? We paid £400 brand new for one in about 1970. It had a double floor that pulled out and the cover made the carpet in the drop down kitchen. The kitchen unit pulled round and had all mod cons. It was 18 foot long and the trailer was 6X6. We had an Owners Club and a couple of brilliant meets with them at Ripon Racecourse and Billing Aquadrome. There was an awning as well but we never managed that.
I apologise for the photo. It is a tiny original and photgraphed with my daughters camera.
Yes, I thought it was a great design. Wasn't it spelt 'Campavan' though? Seem to remember that the one we looked at (thinking of buying) had the name embossed across the rear of the trailer. At that time it had a fibreglass (or similar) rear end.
Yes you are right Al, it was Campavan. The later ones were fibreglass but ours was marine ply wood. The back dropped down and revealed the kitchen which you could use on a journey. We paid £400, sold it 3 years later for £400 and bought a Sprite 400 for £400. All in all it was a good deal and we had many weekends and holidays in it. It was also a good party van.
I had one ,it was plywood sides,I don't remember much about it though.Never had any pics taken ,shame that as would be nice to see old pics. It was a good design, I do remember getting wet in it though,it did leak..Never had much luck and always seemed to pick Cornwall when it rained,

Variety is the spice of life.
Yes i remember owning one of these in the late 60s it was exactly like the pict. Caz sent. I used to tow it with an old Mini 1100 . I visited where they were made, i think it was in the Yorkshire area , i remember going down a dirt track, they were made on a farm.
We are about to sell the "Campavan" we have. Our Campavan does not have the awning nor the kitchin, we have reproofed the canvas already so that is one expense out of the way. I would like to say that there would be no problem driving it away , the lights etc are all working. If anyone would like to rescue this one before it ends up as a trailer I am open to offers.

Hey - my parents still have theirs - we took it to the US in 1978 for four years and my mum's got a great photo of it pitched in monument valley (desert in Arizona where they filmed all the westerns). Last time I went to an owners' club meet they'd mostly converted to caravans though - it's getting harder to maintain them I suppose.

Here's one I found:
Hi,
I realise this thread is old, but we've just come across it. This is our set up, the photo is about 3 years old. We are still using it. We bought the trailer tent about 4 years ago off ebay and we love it. It suits us perfectly. It's very practical and is very light to tow.
We had one of these, in the same colourway as yours. We bought it in 1987, when our eldest son was about 8 months old. We absolutely loved it. We paid £200 for ours and towed it with a Talbot Horizon. We then part exed it with a Sprite Finesse when we had our second son. They were very roomy but very easy to set up. Don't know why the design didn't carry on though.
Julie.

We do still have the curtains. They are, as far as we know, original to the unit and in brilliant condition. They aren't very attractive, but it's got so many windows (including the awning!) that we can't justify making/getting new ones. Maybe one day.
Here's a pic of it folded up:
It's very compact and we do get some funny looks when we pitch it as people can't believe such a huge unit, comes out of such a small box.
