We've just got one of those foldaway picnic bench type, its fine for the 4 of us. Does take up a big chunk of tent but we tend to eat outside if dry

Whatever table you get, make sure that each leg is independently adjustable.

This will save one or two little discussions as to who is jogging the table and spilling all the drinks!

Hi, we have the following table (if my link works), we find it great for use in the awning also at home for the extra table space if needed, folds up so is easily stored, no corners either. I would totally recommend this table.

Thats worth knowing, just in case, you never know when you want a good pub! Normally we just go there and back as it is only about 10-15 mins away.

Had a great few days away in camper, can't wait till next year now.  Won't be doing anymore outings in it this year because of weather.  Bet you cannot wait to use yours in the new year.

I'd say go for any lightweight one  - but that's having tried to lift and manoeuvre our original Dandy table (anyone know what I mean?????) - 'built to last' is the description I think!

We have a Lafuma Hawaii oval table. VERY STURDY - great for kids, Each leg is strong and independently adjustable. It folds in half and so stores easily. We have a CAMPLET also and it goes in the bedroom on top of the poles when we travel wirh the chairs and sleeping bags, duvet etc on top!

It was costly - about £62 from Towsure - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com/product/2679-Lafuma_Hawai_Double_Table . As far as we're concerned its worth every penny to have a strong sturdy table that will last and is reliable on uneven ground. Comfortably seats 4 and lots of room for other dishes, cereal boxes, bread etc.

thanks for all your helpful tips - jeffC particularly interested in yours as you have a camp-let - it sounds a big table but I am guessing you find it fine in the camp-let - if so it does sound like a good investment - what is the top actually made from please?

The top is "heavy duty" malamine like material with moulded tough plastic edge which keeps it all together - not chip board. The fixing of the legs to the top is very secure and opening out the legs stabilises the table so that in the legs out position the table just cannot fold in half. This makes it very stable. I tested loads of tables by putting my hand on the top and shaking them. This one was the only one that stayed firm and did not feel as if it would collapse easily. At the end of the day, we find we use a table a lot, move it in and out of the tent etc. Although it is a bit heavy, this translates as 'not flimsy' in reality. It fits neatly into the camplet for csrrying so the eight is no problem at all. Its not really huge, but big enough for a family of 4 to sit around comfortably. A table is a major buy: go and see one before you buy.

Slovenia next year if we are lucky - see you all there !!!

JeffC that feedback was very helpful I think we will go for that then - this site is so helpful for helping us avoid pitfalls - we've only just got our camp-let not had a chance to try it yet but any other tips you (or others) can pass on we'll greedily here - ours is a Concorde and we have a 7 and 8 year old children (boy and girl) and haven't really done much camping - we adopted our little ones when they were 5 and 6 and we are optimistic this is the way to go for holidays!

any tips on the chairs? thanks
