I use something simillar to this......I plug it into a staterpack battery thing ( the ones to jumpstart cars) that i take with me, you could plug it into a coolbox/12v transformer and plug that into the EHU.......not sure the one on this link has a plug on the end but its easy enough to stick one on it. It clips to the frame above the bed and I put another one in the awning, I dont have any trouble reading under them and they seem to give off a fair bit of light. The ones in this link are not the same ones I use but its pretty similar like I said.
Fit a leisure battery & a couple of 12V 10W halogen spotlights from IKEA for a few quid. Much cheaper than the ones from camping shops. If you can't run that much power, go for a flourescent like those reccomended by Oskah above. Not as bright, but less drain on the battery. There are also lots of good LED lamps now, but I don't like their blue glow as much as the halogens.
We bought a couple of halogen spots wich have a goose neck and clip to fix to shelves, headboards, etc, froim Homebase at approx £7. We cut off the connector which plugs into a 240 o 12 V transformer and fitted a lighter socket so that they can be plugged into the 12 volt system in the camper.

we have two 12v flouros one over each bed (clipped to the poles directly over the seats) plenty of light and both have switches so the sleeper can turn theirs off ,as the lights are behind the bedrooms top horizontal bit above the zips so only a muted bit of light goes sideways.
we installed 240v and 12v last season so they just plug into sockets at the towbar end, off the battery or zig when were on EHU ,the 240v is for the telly and freeview box although we have 2 spare 12v sockets for them to if needed.we like telly
and now we have a pair of wireless headphones each theres no noise bar strange laughs for no apparent reason to our neighbours if were watching a comedy
We have the led booklights, but we also use the sunnflair tent lights with the magnetic strip so that you can attach the lights to the poles, through the inner tent. They are great
Ended up in Camping International yesterday, Took the wife there for our wedding anniversary treat and bought a 240 plug in lamp. I got her to try a Coleman lantern but she said the light was rubbish it took 8 big batteries and when she tried it in a cupboard it made her eyes go funny so didn't spend 29 quids we spent 8 quids instead.
