I see that GoldRV are bringing in the US Viking and converting it up to UK specs. At £7995 it would appear to be excellent value, but how good is it and is it really capable of dealing with our weather? Here is the link, it is worth seeing if only for the fancy banner!
I ve had a look it seems a good purchase for some one but have you seen the weight they describe a hitch weight I presume same as noseweight too heavy for muxt uk cars if it is. It seems about the same as the starcraft, coleman etc very popular in us and canada but what happens when it all goes pearshaped, i.e. cables snap, im talking from experience as we had a starcraft and had to get the cables and winch sent from canada even spoke to the technician and he assured me it was easy to do , it wasnt!!!!! decided to get rid of it in the end because of that weight issue you might think that because they dont have solid sides then its got to be easier than towing a caravan there heavier than a caravan our local campshop had a coleman returned because of this and was stuck with it for some time, even if you showed any interest they asked what your tow car was if to small they didnt even get the keys to open it.
I think they look really cool there are 2 on ebay now , 1 even has a slide out section to make the lounge bigger , I would have thought a 4x4 would pull one .
I have a 1992 Viking 210 SD. They are very well made campers. I live in Michigan and we have weather extremes like the U.K. The vinyl tenting will hold up to heavy rains very well, much better than regular canvas. I have never had a leak in mine even during some heavy wind and thunderstorms. I believe you would enjoy it very much. You can see her in my picture gallery. The new ones are so much nicer now with the slideouts and cassette potty/shower room.
