It started off on ebay , i seen a 2002 pennine pathfinder which was on a bid systen with 1 pic showing so i emailed the seller for more pics and info on the pathfinder ,he replied with his yahoo email with more pics and offering a quick sale including delivery for £1500 happy days i thought ,when i checked ebay he had removed the add ,strangeeeeeeeeeeee indeed over a few days as im in northern ireland i had a friend willing to travel from brighton to look at the camper in plymouth which the seller totaly ignored ,after showing some intrest he offered me a 7 day full refund altho it would be an akward process me being in northern ireland and him in plymouth i was still sorta keen altho at £1500 it sounded too good to be true i asked for his phone number to discuss shipping and boat times etc if i were to go ahead with the deal and to my suprise i was replied with an INVOICE!!!! which he said will come through the ebay process .the invoice came and was suspect so upon contacting ebay they did confirm it was totaly fake ,altho he did send me his address on his invoice and looking a money transfare the advised no payment ,its been 3 days now and after i did contact him about this he has failed to be a quick to respond as he did when he was looking the money lol ,,,,, aghh well thats my gripe for now but i just thought you guys would like to be kept up to date on what certainly still goes on on ebay and can involve camping and campers. i hope someone out there makes use of this and does as i did be carfull and not to hand any money over if you feel at all that its not all what it seems to be , so if any kitchen fitters in the plymouth area with the initals M K offer you a camper be carefullllllll ,ive the full addy here if needs be ,lets hope 2009 gives us a bit of better weather than 2008

And you actually believed you would get a 2002 pathfinder for £1500 , it is the age old saying ,if it sounds to good to true , it is because it is not true .

I have bought 2 Conways off Ebay, but in both cases I took someone with me and paid cash when I collected. I also sold a Conway and a caravan on the same basis. With the second seller almost the first thing he said was that if there was anything I wasn't happy about I needn't pay and he wouldn't leave neg feedback. In the end it was better (!) than advertised and I was more than happy.

I would never consider a purchase this size sight unseen, but the vast majority of Ebayers are absolutely honest and genuine.

I got involved in something similar last year but asked for advice here.  It was a folding camper, almost new, and the seller would ship it to me from the Shetland Isles.
