Just about to pick up our 1995 Designer, very excited. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what they do for a fridge, just to give us some idea

The first thing that caught my eye was your name, our puppy is Jack and our Dandy Destiny is 'Doodle' LOL

We have one of the mini fridges that will work on 12v or EHU but have tended to take a coolbox to be honest. Fill it with frozen stuff and take out what we need to defrost, then again we are relatively new to this camping stuff so we may change what we do. I'm sure you'll have plenty of suggestions to choose from.

Congrats on the purchase of your Designer too! We love ours.

we use a 35lit halfords electric cool box on hook up, we freeze a 2lit lemonade bottle 90% full of water stand it in the space in the box designed for it.After 4 nights we find the water is still 50% frozen, we made the mistake of leaving the box on all night once and every thing was frozen solid in the morning.
whilst ime very happy with the box you have to remember they are not fridges salad, butter or milk i would keep in it for days, meat is kept in it but used no later than the next day.
we found in the dandy that day time temperatures do not reach any where near as high as they do under canvass or the modern materials that tents are made of.

We use an Aldi electric coolbox, I usually pre cook a couple of meals & freeze them, freeze milk, if its a long journey I run the box at home for a while and fill it last minute and plug it into the car during the journey. On hookup I find it's as good as my fridge at home and still had a chicken half still frozen after two days, it will chill a 11/2 litre of wine in no time at all which is most important of all. The most I have run it is five days without turning it off but you do need to mop it out occasionally. Without EHU as mike says freeze as much as you can find a cool spot for it and drink red wine. Enjoy your Dandy

like the red wine comment bfurphy!!  I drink white but must admit do turn to red wine after a few days camping if it's hot as even white submerged in a bucket of water tends to be a bit warm.  Mind you...after the first glass or two you don't notice the temperature as much....

got a fc with a fridge now tho!!!!!

Thank you I think I will try an electric coolbox. Red wine is a very good idea.  Is that before or after putting up the dandy  !!!!!

Oh and jackadoodle is the type of dog we have.   She is jack russell  X  toy poodle, very sweet

if you have never put a dandy up before and there are two of you get a system worked out, stick to it and you should be erected and under cover in 10min with just odd bits to sort out.
