The biggest problem is the lack of spares in this country - you'd possibly have to get things from the States.

It looks as if the problem may be quite simple, e.g the chain, so it could be easily fixable.
The other area to look closely at are the brakes. In particular has it got overrun brakes or electric ones? I think they mostly had electric brakes when imported which are not legal in this country, and would require the necessary wiring. Again parts would be a problem! I know some have been converted to overrun brakes using UK sourced parts, but it would cost around £500 to do this.
