hi, opened up my pathfinder today to find that the wood on one of the bedroom ends has mildew on it as well as the plastic mattress cover. the mattress cover will clean no problem but i`m not sure how to get the wood clean. its not rotted in any way just seems to be on the surface (like lots of small black dots) i,m sure its been caused by packing away wet. has anyone any experience of this?  gary

Make up a solution of sterilising fluid eg.Milton as per the recommended quantity and spray this onto the affected areas. Once dry you can brush away the marks.

Hi

I had a Pathfinder until last November when we got our caravan but we had the same thing happen opened her up in the october half term and had mildew as you said along the edge of the bed board at the front we did the milton tip but found in the end we had to sand it to get the marks off we think it was caused by not defrosting our fridge properly as we had a damp carpet as well. After this and the problems with british weather decided to get the caravan hope you sort it. Samandbensmum

We had that this winter.  We used Milton and sanded the wood to get rid of the marks.  Ours was due to a pool of water sitting on the winter cover, but none had got into the camper it self.

We moved it into the garage to store and found it easier to treat inside.

hi, we had this problem a few years ago with our Pennine Sterling, our problem was around the sorners of the bedroom inners and on the wood bed sides,  we did the usual Milton thing, then we were told by an old camper, dry it thoroughly, brush every bit if everything off and varnish both sides with a yacht varnish.  Did this, all went well for a few years but them the mildew came back again around the bedroom corners- ours as we found out later was a faulty batch of canvas-1998- the anti-mildew was not efficient as it should be Pennine said-- but we kept our eye on it and kept it under control.. The MUST is never to leave anything damp/wet in the camper when folded and if you have a sunny day open it up and air it thoroughly.  Goodluck, Gary

Gary Eaves - does the yacht varnish allow the wood to breath?  Or don't you need to ?
