Hi everyone was wandering if someone could tell me the difference between a trailer tent and a folding camper as we are changing from our tent to one of the above to make it easier to put up but hav'nt much knowledge about either.
There's lots of threads on here about this subject but very very basically if it has the kitchen inside (the main unit) and the main unit can be put up without pegging it's a folding camper, if the kitchen is outside or in the awning and you have to peg then it's a trailer tent.
A folding camper is much easier and quicker to put up than a trailer tent. We are pensioners, and have camped for years ,and with the gear we had it took us around 3 hours to set up camp, but with a folding camper it takes us around half an hour to set up without the awning, with the awning add another 3/4 of an hour. A trailer tent isn't as quick, as you have to peg it out ,as you do your Montana 6 .It may be a little less time than your tent, but not very much. The advantage we have found with our FC is if we want to have a couple of nights away, we don't have to put up the awning.Where as with most TTs you don't have this option. The Pennine Fiesta is the one we went for, and haven't looked back.

If you want to do weekends or short stops folding campers are quicker and easier ( and more expensive) if you have millions of kids and only go for two weeks in the summer the time difference isn't so important. The main unit of the camper is usable on its own. In some trailer tents if you don't put up the awning you end up cooking outside.
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
It is not always necessary to peg out a trailer tent. My Comanche TT can be up in 10 minutes, plus another 45minutes for the awning. A Combicamp is similar. Which you get generally depends on your budget. When I go solo I only use the trailer base - no awning and so no pegging and plenty of room for 2. We use the awning for longer stays.
I can recommend the pennine sterling folding camper, its brilliant, comfy - high off the floor beds and really to put up and down. I would have another one tomorrow!
we all so have commanchi and find brill for puttin up the awning isnt that bad to put up either and comfy we were in blackpool last time out poured down no problems
Went to NEC at weekend to see if 'my' mind was finally made up (done the whole "what mode to we want" - this was now more about which type of TT or folder we want). Guess what? I'm still not sure! I'm pretty much down to either a conway (cruiser or similar) or the camplet. This is the first time I've seen the camplet and was really impressed. Obviously a completely different animal to the cruiser but.... oh hang on. I'm now exercising my trillions of thoughts in the vane hope someone will switch the light on for me. Sorry.
Anyway, needless to say we do want to get on with this. We sold our SunnCamp last year after 5 great years (traditional TT's just don't cut it anymore do they?) so any helpful advice appreciated.
The line about the difference flickered for me.... great definition as a rule of thumb corpogreen and reminded me of one of the reasons I sold the SunnCamp. No pegging if you don't want to with plenty of space.
Woh... too sureal. Think I'm writing my own answer
Your despairingly - happy camping
