HI All,

We have a new folding camper and it has come with 3 thickish plastic 'tarps' - one under each mattress and one folded and packed in with the curtains. I am assuming these are wet packs but what do we do with them? I would have thought that having a piece of waterproof plastic under the mattress would just make perspiration/condensation/dampness a problem, so are these 'tarps' for covering beds etc when packing away wet?

Thanks in advance.

Roll on Easter

We seem to have very poor luck with the weather when we camp, and I would say we do wet packs at least a third of the time we are away.  Just leave the tarps under the beds/seating until the day that you have to pack wet.  Then you pull them out from under the mattresses (easier said than done from inside - easier to do from outside once you have untensioned the tent all the away around) and spread over the mattresses and upholstery to protect them when the wet roof canvas folds down on them.  Obviously you need to open the unit up to dry as soon as you can, within 48 hours maximum.

After the first (and so far only) time of using the wet pack, we pulled the sheets through the bedroom pods.  whilst it did the job, it didn't look right to me.

On seeking advice from the dealer, we were told to drop the bedroom pods then roll the sheet over the top of that.  have to say, that having done that to try it out, it does look a lot neater

We always pack ours away with the wet packs on just in case we have to do a wet unpack.

Is that wrong?

So do the wet packs stay under the mattress or should they be rolled up?

Roll Them up When Using The Camper Otherwise You Will Find The Undersides Of The Mattresses Wet On A Morning.

( Not Sure About When Packed Though,I leave Them Under.)

We have a 2006 Countryman, I know this is an old thread but I have been puzzled over a 'spare' piece of plastic cover with elastic pole hooks attached that like in Lorna's thread was in with the curtains. I've been reading through trying to solve this mystery and noted this thread. The plastic is not as soft as the mattress wet covers, its slightly stiffer a bright cream colour and is approximately 6x4ft with a hemmed side like a curtain on one of the 6 ft ?top side, it has elastic pole clips on all four corners. On the 'top' side the pole hooks are indented at different distances but only a few inches difference from corners.

We have used the FC 3 times since buying it last summer, once with awning and twice without, and can't work out what it's for! I have wondered if its part of the 'wet pack'. The trouble with the videos you watch on erecting the campers they never show you all the extras being assembled! We've had loads of different tents, caravans over the last 25 years so are not new to camping but there's always something isn't there..............

The plastic you mention fits on to the underside of the bedboards once they are folded over.

The clips hook on to the edge of the plywood. Ours fits the r/hand bed the first bed board to fold over. It has holes in it to slip over the two metal uprights.

Hope this makes sense. We have actually got two, so we fit them to both beds. I believe it's to stop water dripping on to the bed board when the canvas sits on top of it.

Thank you pieface - yes I think that's makes sense. Standing in our doorway it's our right hand bed that folds in first. Our cover has two holes in it which I thought someone had just randomly cut as they don't look 'professionally cut'!

So just to make sure I've got it correct - when we fold the first bed over we then put the cover over what would then be the back/under side of the bedboard? Makes sense really. Do you put anything over your bench seats when packing away wet? I can't work out if any of the wet canvas would actually rest on the interior of the camper or whether it is folded inside itself and so only the inside of the canvas touches the interior.

Just wondered have you got a four foot long white flexible plastic pole around 1/4inch or so thick? Noted in the Pennine video that its used to thread through the kitchen window outside as a ventilator holding the window out a bit, but there's nothing on our window to thread anything through. Thanks again for your answer.

Yep you got it for the bed boards. Our fiesta has a fixed plastic cover that folds out over the seat if required similar to the one that covers the mattress.

It may depend on the age of your unit as our old fiesta didn't have a cover for the seat.

It's strange that you haven't got a hemmed pocket on the bottom of your kitchen window
