Hi,
Congratulations on getting your camper! I don't have any advice as we just got our 1997 Countryman last July and have only managed to use it once.

All I would say is - ENJOY,

Homebird

Congratulations on your new purchase. The main problem that you will have towing is that with a well matched combination you could forget that you are towing!   Because your braking distance will increase train youself to anticipate what is happening ahead, leave a good distance between you and the car in front and brake early and slowly. When you pull out at junctions (and when you get the confidence to overtake) remember that your outfit is at least twice as long  as your car, so give yourself plenty of time. Hills will slow you down so change gear earlier than you would normaly. Finaly, don't forget that you are restricted to 60 mph, don't let other road users push you to go faster and enjoy.

Mike

Mike, That has to be the longest post with the fewest words I have seen
Slimtrader, We too bought a 93 Cruiser and went to Cumbria over 200 miles away, to pick it up. I had never towed before and to say I was nervous was a bit of an understatement. The roads in Cumbria were very narrow, bendy and hilly and I managed fine. They are brilliant to tow. Well done on your purchase and I hope you have lots of good times in your Cruiser.

One additional piece of advice is to avoid cutting corners! After I picked my Cardinal up I nearly took the side off on a railing, I missed it but only just. Pull well forward and allow yourself as much room as you can on the inside.

Otherwise though don't worry too much.

Glen

Am I right in thinking that the speed limit is only 60 on dual carriageways or motorways, otherwise it is 50 when towing?

Hi Sue,
According to this advice from the trailer warehouse you are quite right

When towing a trailer you are restricted to 60mph on motorways and dual carriageways and 50mph on other roads provided, of course, that lower limits are not in operation.
