I am trying to re-insure our folding camper but all the brokers are asking about Security Chips!

Could anyone offer guidance as to whether this is money saving, where we get it done or anything else we should know about?

we do ours (20 yrs old) through caravan guard and they don't ask for that but you do have to point out there isn't a security number on folding campers. I don't know re security chip never neard of themin folding campers but someone will be along soon and let us both know differently!

When you ask for a quote ask for prices with and without the security chip. Sometimes there is a very small price difference in the premium so it may not be worth paying for the extra security measures. When I was getting a renewal price for car insurance the insurers wanted an alarm fitted, this would have cost several hundred pounds to have fitted in return for only a few pounds of discount, however the excess may be lower if you have extra security fitted. Also as Nina pointed out, there is no CRIS number on an fc but insurance companies insist on asking for it, it just shows that the insurers are not really sure what an fc is.
