Im trying to put my concorde on its side mounting bracket, even with two of us we find it heavy and when we get it up of the ground are reluctant to push it right over in case it crashes over.Is there a knack in doing it your advice would be appreciated
Dominic at Camperlands reckons there is a knack to it that enables him to do it single handed. I cant tell you what that knack is but a phone call to their office should suffice.
We find that you need to remove as much weight as possible from inside, make sure that you have soft support ( a pillow, cushion or rolled up carpet) under the front side of the box, and then if possible have some safety ropes . We thread or ropes throught the ceing rafters of the garage.
I manage to do it on my own but only with rope and tackle all over the place so that it looks like the rigging of the Cutty Sark.
Once flipped over, the unit is surprisingly manoeuvrable and can be placed easily against the garage wall.
We think it is well worth the money for the dry winter storage, but easy it is not if you are wrinklies like us
With the help of my very strong son standing bye, two of us put it on its side, but that is going to be the last time,it is heavy, and and you need to be strong, my wife and my self could never do it on our own, you need to make sure that the ground is very smooth, or you will have trouble moving it, the post by S GThomas just about sums it up.
As an after thought,to store your camplet on its side, for winter storage, would be worth the effort, but for me,as i hope to use it every week, it would be to much effort.Therefor if anybody is looking for cheap side lift, iv got one for sale.
I asked this question on the Camperlands stand at the N.E.C.
I was told that each of the people on the stand have lifted it up onto the side bracket on their own but it is a lot easier with 2 people.
They told me what you need to do is lower the front of the trailer so that the A frame is on the ground then just lift it up and over.
I haven't tried it myself as i haven't got the bracket but would be interested to know it it does work.
I have just brought mine down from the wall and it did tip forward, so perhaps when I put it away in the autumn it will work.
I still have my doubts that it is a case of just lift and flip it over. My wife seriously damaged her back when we first tried lifting and flipping, hence my need for all the tackle and rigging.
But if you find it works let me know and especially if you think two old wrinklies could manage it.
well done, we bought a side bracket when we got our camplet, but me and OH together couldn't get it on to the side, so we gave up and sent the bracket back! Managed to just fit it in the garage normally

No, i have decided to keep it,my wife and my self cant put it over on its side, but when the winter comes, my son and his mates are going to put it in my garage for me.
Prior to fitting the bracket onto the rack put some tape or a thin cloth onto the area where the side storage bracket fits. This reduces the risk of damaging the powder coating on the luggage rack.
The advice above by jim62 is correct.
