Thanks for the comments

I saw storm straps (or what I believe to be storm straps) on a number of caravan awnings and wondered what advantage they have over traditional guy ropes that I have used for years on tents.

The wind also got us thinking about whether you should put some storm straps on the folding camper itself as it looked possible that you could put in a storm strap or guy rope in the corner.  In the end we decided against this thinking that it might tear the canvas, but would appreciate any views on this and the above matter.

On my Pullman I have three exta, heavy duty guys that I made from nylon draw rope. I attach them to where the three main roof poles poke out through the awning roof and peg down at forty five degrees. I personally would beware of the awning straps that go all the way over the awning as they can wear out the canvas through rubbing at the point where the canvas is trapped between the strap and the poles.

do you think it will be ok to store a folding camper outside all year round.

We stored our cmaper outside for two winters and it was fine. Just make sure you have a good tilt on it so that the water drains off. I think you can buy an outdoor cover, does anyone else know if there is a special cover for storing outside.
