I used to fit items on top of the van, cover them with a groundsheet,
i then made some long bungee cords up 2 from end to end and 3 across the body
the cover then went on and completed the fixture
never had any problems with the items staying on, had to juggle them about to make sure the nose weight was ok.
hope this helps
John

LOL I have a roof box nomes, thanks but just thought the miles we travel it would be more fuel efficient to not use it LOL beside rob could do with a step ladder to reach ours when it's on.
Well I am impressed with what we did actually fit in it.
Memory foam mattress, all the pots, pans, plates, glasses, cups, utencils, water bottle, sleeping bags, 3 chairs, table, suitcase gas hob, hookup lead with plugs, hookup lead without, lamp, long awning light, awning and a few bits more Basically nearly all our kit so not bad mind you the car still looked pretty full up LOL
Think I might invest in the plastic boxes for our clothes because I found that a problem with clothes in bags as they wouldn;t fit under the bed but them boxes would be ideal and ideal for packing the car I think.
Thanks for tips though
