We some times take our tv and either watch it in the awning or the camper, how ever some caravaners see this as bad manners to have your tv on in the awning because other campers can hear the tv.With having a folding camper we can't win! Has anybody had any problems with this on site?
Because some people like to watch tv on holiday, some people like to walk miles and some dont, some love hotels and some hate them etc etc. we are alll different! We take a tv only when we take the tt and sometimes we use it and sometimes we dont.
I often find peoples radios played very loudly with music blaring out just as annoying if not more so. The rule I try to abide by is try to keep it so only we can hear it and that means sitting quite closely or using earphones. I dont care what other people do as long as it doesnt interfere with me and visa vera. Consideration is all that is needed, but sadly often not the case.
You camp to relax and enjoy yourself. As long as your television is not loud enough to annoy your neighbours then don't worry.
Many people, mainly people fairly new to camping, have ideas that camping is "back to basics" and television is unacceptable. Many of those same people think nothing of disturbing their neighbours with cd's, radio, computer games and late night chatter etc.
Provided that you are not disturbing the peace of your neighbouring campers then just enjoy yourselves and continue to watch your television.
Stay on caravan club sites like us, we tend to be the only folding camper on it, therefore everyone else is in their caravans and you won't worry about the noise of your tv .
As long as it isn't noisey after the kids go to bed I don't think anyone would complain. We don't take a TV, but we do play music in the awning. Not loud is the key. In France a few years ago, we were kept awake by a (very talented) blues saxophonist in the wee small hours. In Spain, everyone seems to take the TV from home & have it set up on a table outside the tent or caravan. Again, not loud but people accept it over there. The worst of the lot was a camp site owner near Richmond in Yorkshire who let his kids have a party with a DJ in his garden. Nobody got to sleep that night. He refused to refund any money claiming it was a "one off"! Has anyone ever approached you to complain or is this an urban myth?
I recieved a sarcastic remark from the site owner of a adult only no tents allowed site about how late I watched the tv. It was 10pm and I watched the news on a 7" black and white TV inside our cabin in the pathfinder. It was not loud as I do think of others on site.
