hi every one, im new to camping, i bought a trailer tent off a friend, im hoping to use it very soon, ive a few queries i'd like answering,

1,. do most site extra accept trailer tents,

2, when booking on a site, is there a particular plot you ask for, ie electric hook up, (mine has an awing as well),

The trailer tent is the part you open up and sleep in, the extra living area as you call it is the awning so the answer is yes you are using an awning.

Just tell them it's a trailer tent and be prepared to quote dimensions. Yes strictly speaking it's a tent plus awning but in practice you need the outer area for living in, so it's not like an optional awning such as caravans use and it's not normal practice to be charged for it when using a TT as it's integral. Some TT awnings don't even zip off, btw, so it's not like they're optional. Don't get them muddled up with folding campers, which are more related to caravans in their pitching requirements.

Also you need to peg down so once again, you don't want to be on a hard standing area you can't peg through. (Non-pegging FCs can use caravan hard standings, usually.) You don't really want gravel or rock under the undertent groundsheets though, so grass pitches are preferable.

Beauty of a TT is that most sites really quite like them because they're a nice neat shape and they look attractive.

TTs & FCs don't usually consider the awning as a separate unit.  As Val says have a note of the size of the footprint to hand when booking.  You will usually be charged as a tent.
