Does it leak? If not then it doesn't need waterproofing. My old 1989 Conway Camargue has never been proofed and it's still bone dry inside, even in last year's monsoon season.

If you know it's been proofed before then yes, you will have to reproof eventually as the proofer mucks up the natural waterproofing abilities of cotton canvas. Every 3-5 years should be sufficient though.

the easiest way is spraying .
erect the tent and fill a 5 litre sprayer with thomsons (or fabsil if your rich)stand on a ladder and use a coarse spray (probably a jet to get to the center of the roof)and spray along each seam then the panel inside that seam then the seam again.
once the roofs finished start the walls avoiding the plastics.
it will effect your lawn if it gets spray on it and watch the wind sending drops onto your car windows.

spray so the canvas is wet through and make sure the canvas has time to dry before it rains.
a typical trailer tent will drink several gallons (ours took 5) so its not a cheap job.
the stuff dries pretty quick on a summers day the smell disappears in couple of days erection .

whilst the tent is up check all the rubber parts (pegging points etc) they are probably getting "sticky" now so replace them with either bands looped through themselves or those black bands with a special section that holds itself in the loop the old band went through.
whilst its all up check the pole springs and buttons the replacements an be found at your local camping shop.

check the wheel bearings are ok before you take your new beast on a long trip the grease can dry out

Hi

Thanks for the advice gys, just got back from first weekend and despite severe downpour in middle of the night, we where warm and dry,so not planning to re waterproof, only thing was when pulling canvas into right places, it tore very easily in a couple of places, where it would be rubbing on frame poles,, almost like tearing a sheet, did a quick patch up with Duck Tape, but what would be more permanet solution?

Thanks
