we took kids camping for 1st time last yr, cheap tent plus loads of extras, they loved it so we are getting a tt for our future camping expose's.

looking at camp sites here they state wether they allow tents or motor homes, are tt classed as tents or motor homes? my and oh are in disagreement over this.

whats this insurance i've noticed mentioned, is it just general, or extra on the car insurance (for towing purposes)?

would they allow us to travel to ireland , or europe with a tt. do ferrys have a prob with these?

sorry if these seem dumb but except for last yr the only other camping i've done is rock festivals.

Mostly sites understand that TTs are TTs. Bear in mind that you need a grass pitch not hard standing, so you will mostly be in with the tents. Also, most campsites understand that TTs have awnings as an integral part - you should not have to pay extra for them. Check if this is the case before you book, and if a camp site wants to charge you more, go to one that doesn't.

Insurance for TTs etc. is not a legal requirement, but can cover towing damage, theft, incidents caused by your trailer etc.

You can quite happily travel on ferrys with a TT, most ferry companies charge a flat rate for a trailer.

None of these questions are dumb! Very sensible to ask, thats what these forums are for.

Good luck! (Oh, and buy a Raclet... they're cheap, robust and have the best canvas along with Camp-Let).

If you are anywhere near London, this lot:

Who are also Raclet UK have some truly mental deals on brand new TTs, and I mean up to 50% off.

One thing, do tell your car insurance people about the towbar and that you will be towing. Your TT will be covered for damage it causes whilst being towed (but will not be covered for being damaged, theft, etc. for which you may want separate insurance).

If you have a very cheap policy they may charge a small additional premium.
