hello all,
I hope you can help me. My OH is no longer able to help me to get my FC out of the garage and turned around to hitch it up to the car. We live on a slope with a 1:7 drive down to the house. The garage is to the side. The house is on the only level bit of the plot, but, we have a parking area for the car which is slightly more level than the drive.We/I can drive down with the FC then have to take the car out again to turn the FC in order to get it into the garage. I spent lots of hours last night looking at the search items but all deal with motor movers of varying makes to turn and move caravans, not FCs.I found a mention of Mr. shifta on here some time ago and wonder if that is the thing I need? The others seem to need to be fitted for all time to a caravan but I only need this to turn FC in the yard. The Fc is a conway challenger and ex works is about 650kg.

I've just fitted a PurpleLine Enduro to my Pennine Pathfinder. This is partly as I have similar problems, although our drive isn't quite as steep it's gravel, and impossible to reverse into* so I use a similar technique before turning the camper.

I tried turning it on Monday having got everythign sorted and it's brilliant! You can turn the camper in it's own length if necessary and can control the position very accurately.

There are a couple of cautions though! It will probably be a non-standard fit, so may cost a little bit more that you'll see advertised - the supplier should be able to advise. They do weight quite a bit, so will eat into your available load weight, and especially if you don't use electric hook-up you may need a larger battery which may be a problem to fit (assuming you have a later Challenger with a battery at all).

I'll leave others to comment on the Mr Shifta type movers as I have no experience of them!

Glen

esermalda hi,

If your only looking to use a motorised mover at home on your drive then a motor mover is a cheaper option as long as the drive is either tarmac or concrete.  I have used one with my twin wheeled caravan and found it very easey to move the van around the yard. Now I have a Camplet I no longer use it, but if like you I was on a hill then out it would come again.

you cannot fit a mover to drive the wheels on a conway challenger, you can only use a mover that fit to the jockey wheel clamp like the shifta

Thank you all for your replies,  especially Blackrex as this information is invaluable.  The shifta site says they will come and demonstrate and if satisfied we can purchase straightaway.

The purpleline Enduro I havent googled yet as I assumed it is a wheel mover.  Will look later on today and get in touch if it will fit the jockey wheel.

Thanks again everyone for the help and information.  I thought my FC days were numbered.

Hi Darlo you will need some spacers to drop the enduro down , this is the same with all movers on folding campers , as the chassis is shallower , also you will need to fit behind the wheels as the strengthing brackets around the door and wash room get in the way of fitting at the front , have a look at my website there is a section of pics of the enduro on the pathfinder
