hi, just came back from our 1st camp in our pathfinder - eden tree campsite in bradwell, derbyshire. all went ok considering, just a couple of questions - 1: had problems filling the toilet flush water. used a watering can but it would only fill a cupful in the plastic spout. realised after looking at the instructions that there shoul be an extension located in the waste cassette - not so. i managed to attach a hose onto the watering can and then pushed the other end through the plastic spout and into the hole inside. will this extension solve all my problems or am i doing something wrong as i have heard of people using a watering can. 2 : found there was quite a draft coming in from the lower sides of the end beds into the lounge - will the skirts help with this as i never put them on this time or is there some other technique.   any help appreciated

I cant answer your toilet question, but the first couple of times we took our Sterling out, we also noticed a draft in the same place.

once we had bought and used the skirts, it seems to have solved the problem.

Hi My dh said for the flush open the pipe all the way out take the top off and just tip the water in it works like a syphon just watch the gauge on the side make sure you dont over fill. As for the draft it was recommend either on here or the pennine owners club forum to buy some 15mm pipe insulation and cut a bit to fit on the edge of the bed under the canvas it doesnt stop it completely but it does help. We found the skirts also helped.

Hi

Took our new pathfinder se out last week for the first time, took us 3 damn hours to get the toilet filled as we wrongly assumed as everything is electric that the water would come from the main water bottle.

We took out the toilet, all the trunking, folded down the back of the toilet than realised....nothing went to it from the blue water feed pipe.

So, I did the same, put some water in it after 100ml of pink sample and it didn't go anywhere. Pulled the water level tube out, blew it, tried to syphon it and still it didn't drop at all, even considered putting something over the top of the filler and blowing it in.

In the end managed to find someone with a 5 year old model and they advised that we were doing it right and simply by adding more water the level stays at the top but pushes it through. Sure enough simply filled the kettle up and poured it in, the kettle emptied, the water stayed at the same level (right at the top) and slowly the water level glass indicator filled to the top.

I do have the filler extension clipped to my toilet waste container (its a small green toilet roll type thing about an inch high) but it wasnt needed.

It may be worth making sure your caravan is level as I guess if you are slightly leaning towards the filler it will be harder for the water to be forced in.

There is a very small image of what you are missing on page 8 (image 3b) of this pdf : http://www.thetford.eu/web/show/file?id=82129&langid=42&contentid=720&filename=TVC_Thetford_Brochure_ENG_final.pdf

Hope that helps,
Neil

neil, thanks very much for the explanation. i just presumed that because the spout got full no more water would enter the system and would need the extension for it to work. i will purchase a new extension if i can but otherwise fill as before but with a little more patience!

thanks again, gary
