I have made up my mind on a Pathfinder now - thanks to everyone on here who gave advice

I am going to buy a sencond-hand one, but what age is best?

What year saw the best layout/standard features?

I understand that the build quality isn't as good on the later models.

I am not worried about gas struts or colour.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

dont know what parts on later models are not as good , i have had a 2000 model a 2004 model and now a 2008 model and i cant see any decline in quality . once you have had gas struts believe me you wont want to be without them , folding the beds over is so easy with with

I heard somewhere that the newer models made use of MDF in places rather than plywood - perhaps I was mistaken.

I'm not worried about gas struts as I am only 26 years old and quite strong so should manage without them.

The thing is the ones with out gas struts had thinner mattresses as well. Ours is a 2003 we consider the advantages over newer ones to be that the hot water runs on gas or electric newer ones just use electric and we rally. We like the longer settee on one side as you can sleep a child without having to make the double bed up. 2004 is much the same. 2002 are better (in our opinion) wood on the cupboards and have the split sink top not the all in one glass so you can get to the tap easily with stuff on top. I personally hated the mint green and am not too keen on the brown and cream. So I would go for 2002 - 2004 if that fits in your price range. I checked our benches at the weekend and they are MDF John is no stick insect and they are perfect. In much newer ones the settee is shorter meaning you can only seat 4 people. They gain a cd player and an electric heater. We are happy with a 9.99 fan heater. Wardrobe, fridge, cooker etc seem the same to me in them all as does the loo. The 2002 also had an external bbq point.

I'll echo everything Jan has said!

I've got a 2004 Pathfinder, and it's about perfect (for me anyway). A mains only water heater would have been next to useless - I very rarely have hook-up, and I preferred the longer seat.

The mint-green colour is a bit bright, but after many years of faded dark-red Conways almost anything would be an improvement!

Glen
