I have been to a local Pennine dealer today to take a look at some FCs.

Before going I was pretty sure that I wanted a Pathfinder, but now I'm not too sure!

The main things I noticed were; the Pullman, although smaller, actually seems more spacious inside than the Pathfinder - which seems quite enclosed with the bathroom walls.

Obviously the Pullman trailer itself is smaller and lighter. Easier to tow & store.

I can see the benefits of the the Pathfinder - loo, oven etc but is that really worth the extra money?

I am sure there are lots of you who have experience of both, what are your opinions?

Many thanks,

Graeme.

If you can do without the toilet compartment I would suggest the Pullman for the reasons you mention.

If you don't want the added weight or the loo go for the pullman. I never use the oven. However I like the privacy the loo and wardrobe give us in our bedroom. I like the sense of going to bed rather than sleeping in the living area.I also like the solidity of the kitchen being up against a "wall" rather than right next to the inner tent material.

The toilet is vital at 2am on a rainy morning especially if you have younger children with you.
The toilet and wardrobe can block noise from that end of the camper if the younger ones go to bed earlier (mine never does).
If you are going to use the oven its worth getting the Pathfinder. Some people I know cook a full roast dinner in theres, others just use it to store there saucepans in.
Only you know what you will use and what is a waste of money and space.

We had the same decision to make and chose a Pullman. Our reasoning was the Pullman was a lot cheaper, lighter and easier to erect. With a £70 Porta Potti it was great. You can use a toilet tent in the awning or elsewhere but we left ours in a corner of the awning and placed it in the door of the unit at night.

We never shower in our units because of water, damp, smell and the usual available excellent facilities you pay for on sites. The sink is excellent for a quick wash or shave.

The Pullman also has more room inside especially if you dispense with the wardrobe which can only be used when the unit is up. Instead we carried garments in cases and hung them in the spare bedroom or awning.

Overall we enjoyed the Pullman more than any of the 3 caravans towed by LR Discoverys, and 3 motor caravans we had previously owned.

The Pullman was towed with our VW Golf diesel auto Tiptronic and we could easily get 45 mpg unlike the Discos at 20 and they were also unstable and noisy.

We went from a Pullman to a Pathfinder, use the oven alot and the toilet (especially with a 3 year old) The extra long seat is better in the Pathfinder aswell.

Going from the Pullman to the Pathfinder we found it felt bigger to be in. We left the wardrobe in both units but shelved them out and used them for general storage or a larder rather than to hang clothes in.

As Ian says you need to go for what suits you best and what you will be happy towing. For the 5 of us I found the Pullman a little on the small side.
