I always hitch mine by using the jockey wheel.
How do you mean you need a new one?
1. Wind the jockey wheel about half-way out
2. Loosen the clamp and raise the hitch to tow-ball height (keeping jockey wheel on the ground). Tighten the clamp.
3. Wind the wheel further out and position the hitch over the ball.
4. Wind the jockey wheel in allowing the hitch to lower onto the ball.
5. Loosen the jockey wheel clamp and remove/raise the spindle.
