There should be loads of room for 5, especially if you have underbed tents, i'm currently selling my camargue which is same sort of size and its massive, more room than a normal tent.

Just a thought but if you dont want to buy another underbed tent you could always buy a cheap 2 man dome tent. We only had 1 underbed tent and got a 2 man dome tent from asda for £6 in a sale, this went under the other bed so we could use both sides.

I've got an '89 Camargue which was the flagship model before the Royale was produced. Have a look on my profile pix and ask yourself if that size of tent is really going to be "too small", lol.

Got to say though that the undertents are only nominally doubles, as in you'll not get a double airbed in one, just two self inflating mats or camping mats. Two smaller kids only, not teenagers. You can fit a single airbed in the trailer well though, or hang an awning inner in the main sectio. Best solution though is to stalk Ebay for a second undertent. Just don't buy one of the new £20-£25 Sunnflair ones....they are very flimsy. Or you can get a new undertent from Pennine-Conway, but it will cost you around £50.

Hi RadJK

Great idea about the dome tent. I am picking up our first TT tomorrow (a 1998 Conway Olympia, very exciting). We need a second pup tent, but your idea of a tent inside a tent is sure to drive the kids mad with excitement!

Just off to clear space in the garage (no idea where all the junk is going to go, I just don't seem to be able to throw anything away)!

We used an underbed inner under our conway contiki and fitted a double airbed inside and dh and ds son slept in it together.  We now have a caravan and son sleeps in a tent in the awning.  We too got his tent cheap in Tesco and it's fine for indoors.  Just check the height of the underbed because it's not that high and the tents we have for him wouldn't fit under one of the beds in the contiki, though i'm sure it wouldn't matter if the roof was squashed a bit would it?

I'm sure you'll love it and there is loads of room.

Congratulations on your purchase. The Royale is my favourite of all Conways, proof it, keep on top of the most minor of maintenance needs and it will last forever. 20 years down the line my daughter and husband are using ours and its still like new.

As for being big enough, underbed tents, pup tents, or whatever - you'll find out best by using it, but ours has brought up 3 children and their friends with plenty of space.

If there is one accessory to buy thats a sun canopy, it adds about 5 feet to the front of the tent and makes storage of bulky items on site a breeze and releases a lot of room inside as well as being a dry airing area for towels etc. Not cheap, but well worth it.

Enjoy your camping, we started out with no idea - you learn very quickly [:)]
