If it's new contact Pennine.

Ours is a 2004 and we had the exact same problem, so I cantacted Pennine who said "Oh yes we are aware that there is a problem with that!" and sent us a penny washer to attach in the main sink plughole to restrict the water flow. This worked a little too well in the fact that if you had a tiny bit of food go in the sink it took forever for the water to go down. Not sure if hubby put a smaller washer on or removed it completly on but he also fixed a funnel shaped restricting device (don't know what else to call it) to the end of the sink pipe and this slows the water going into the water catcher thingy in the base unit and stops it over flowing.

Well since we started this topic back in 2005 we've found putting a j-cloth over the hole slows the water down enough and catches all the bits. Its a bit bad that pennine haven't sorted it in 3 (at least) years.

We had it happen when we had our Pennine (yet another reason for crossing to the Dark Side) The solution we found was simple - just hold the plug and let the water out at intervals - i.e. a bit at a time - the sink aint that big you will only be holding the plug for a few moments.

It's very  upsetting when it happens in your new unit though, just when you planned to keep everything pristine for as long as possible....

Hi I posted this some tims ago. I did find a solution which was to take out the strainer part in the drain in the unit (not the sink) and cut out half of the cross fins. I think there were six there are now three. This has solved the problem because what ever goes down the sink drain will pass through the second one, it would take something the size of a cherry to block it now. Since doing this there has been no back up even from rice with onions which used to be the problem. Hope this helps. Just come back from a damp week in Pembrokeshire. Tipical we have a hot dry summer with hosepipe bans, but as soon as you go away, down comes the rain. Thinking of South of France next year.

Brian
