hello, anyone know of anyway of stopin the rain cumin through our tent? apprently the tent is water proof but as we found out on saturday night at 2am it isnt totally waterproof. this is all new to us and we just wondered is it the tent or is their sumthin we can put over it? any ideas would be great x
I would say it's the tent. Not the best of tents to stand up to our weather I'm afraid if it's a Proaction? Your profile says Proactive. The HH (the amount of water it can shrug off basically) is only around 2000mm.
We have a Quechua (Decathlon) 4.2 which has a HH of 1500 (minimum recommended for UK use), it has been used in tremendous storms in France and hasn't leaked.
If it's deffo not just condensation then it is more likely to be leaking from the seams or around windows. Also check around hanging loops etc. If it leaks then take it back for a refund, claim not fit for purpose...
You might need to get some sealant for the seams. Also, I found that our Vango leaked by the windows but i think that was because we hadn't pitched it very well. It was pouring down when we arrived at the campsite so we put it up as quickly as possible. Nothing came through the roof though.
If its a new tent it may need to get wet to expand the thread on the seams.I can not see what difference the quality makes if it supposed to be a waterproof tent thats what it should be.Try pitching it again at home and put the hose pipe on it and if it leaks now take it back.
thanks everyone, it seemed to come through when u touch it on the inside. gunna put it up n do the hose pipe thing see what happens but i have a feelin it could be the tent n yes it is a pro active. gunna ave a look around for anuther tent i dont think its big enough anyway especially if we wanna go for longer

If it's happening at night then I bet you it's condensation. Not much you can do here (you have to breathe, after all!) except ventilate as much as possible, don't cook or boil things in the tent and keep wet jackets etc in the car.
