Hi all. I have just bought a T/Tent with a nice new kitchen. Can anyone tell me which is the most available type/make of gas bottle when on your travels? Once I know I'll know which type of regulator to buy.
I anticipate your replies. Thanks
I bought camping gaz 10 years ago and have suck with it, though i think its slightly more expensive than the alternatives, never had a problem getting a refill in the UK, taking it abroad this year for first time, though it never seems to run out!

The best and cheapest for UK is the blue Butane in various sizes (Calor etc).If you are going early or late season you may want the red Propane bottles as it is better for the colder conditions and the main reason it is used by caravaners.
Campingaz is also Butane but usually more expensive and less common to refill in the UK, but if you are going abroad then it is widely available while our domestic (Calor etc) Butane is not!
If you camp in mainly warm weather, Butane - blue Calor cylinders is for you. Calor is widely available in the UK, though other makes such as Flo Gas & others make interchangeable cylinders with cheaper gas, though manufacturers won't swap each others empties. Camping Gaz is more widely available in Europe. We use Calor at home, but take a spare Camping Gaz when we go abroad. If you intend camping in early/late season, Propane - orange cylinders are needed. Butane freezes at around 5ºC where Propane will still operate below freezing. It burns faster though, so Butane is more economical. Both boil a kettle in about the same time. There are a couple of other things to consider, such as the new lightweight cylinders. Both Calor & BP are doing them now. Also, what size do you need/can you carry? My camper has space for 2 x 4.5 Kg cylinders. Space may be more of a problem, in which case Camping Gaz do much smaller cylinders.
