Hi, I have found a 2007 Sunncamp Holiday 240 on ebay, are they any good or are they a bit too cheap and chearful and would £700 be a good price to pay?

I have camped for years (in the rain!) and now fancy a bit of an upgrade, was thinking of buying a new tent but the one I liked was £500 so not much more to get a second hand trailer tent, but am I better off getting an older better quality tent or a newer Sunncamp,

thanks

We have a sunncamp se400 and i think thay are great tents and better made than a lot of people give them credit for .At the end of the day any tent is only as good as the last person to own it!!! (if it's second hand) but i think you would be luck to get it for £700

                        hope that helps a bit

                                     cheers Bruce

thanks for that Russ boy, really interresting to read other comments,

OH still not convinced - losing my touch ;-( also can't decide if the 240 will be big enough, but the 350/450 seem to be 520 wide with the kitchen area and that makes them 20cm too big for a standard pitch - something that is mentioned alot on the tent forum

Am so indecisive!!

Don't want to drop a spanner in the works, but have you seen the Raclet prices at the Codicote tent show? For Sunncamp prices you can get a brand new Raclet which will last a whole lot longer. Prices start at £1600 for a Minto and range up to £3k for a Safari.

Sunncamps are perfectly satisfactory, but the thinner and cheaper canvas and poles will be a lot more dependent on how they are looked after, therefore a second hand one is more of a risk.

I've missed the Sunncamp now anyway, found the website for the Codicote Show, did you have to contact them for prices or did you go along Charlie?

Not sure if I wanted to spend as much as £1600 at the moment

I went along, but they're only 2 miles from me so I can always go and check specific prices if you like.

The Minto is £1600 including all the awning etc. but the show model is available for cheaper! (BTW all of these prices are for brand new models). It's an odd little tent, with no kitchen, where the beds are rotated through 90 degrees from normal, and the awning is asymmetrical, but it folds up so tiny ans small that a trike can tow it, and it is as big as a Sunncamp 240S.

Thanks for the offer Charlie, I have emailed them so hopefully they will get back to me on prices, by the way I quite like the idea of the beds facing that way - no climbing over each other! Do you know if you can still cook inside, we have a cooker so I'm not too worried about one of those big fancy things, and it seems most people don't use the sinks anyway.

Well, the awning is slightly bigger than a Sunncamp 250, and it is really well ventilated so I can't see it being a problem. I guess if toy used a standard cooker and a stand it would save a lot of problems. Frankly, I think you could probably talk them into throwing in a folding kitchen stand thing for the proce... they seem quite open to negotiation!

The canvas is really top banana - I sold mine at 32 years old, and it is still being used with no probs - and they have 4 brand new all wrapped in cellophane sitting there ready to go for peanuts.

BTW, don't expect them to answer emails very fast. It's better to 'phone them!

Charlie
